The Australian Mineral Foundation (AMF) was established in 1972 to provide specialist services to the Australian mining and petroleum industries. It has done this very effectively, but in recent years AMF has clearly struggled to adjust to the changes in its community, and it has not adapted quickly to the opportunities offered by the advent of the Internet.

That is the history: the message for the future is that we are taking the Organisation on a new development path, one that will offer more and better services and that will, in turn, secure the future financial viability of the AMF.

The Australian Mineral Foundation is Australia's premier provider of Applied Training, Information Services and an Industry Bookshop for the minerals and petroleum industries. For more than 20 years these services have promoted the introduction and transfer of new technology, and quality management in Australia and internationally. Established and governed by industry members, the AMF has particular expertise in identifying, recovering and co-ordinating minerals and petroleum information.
