Cooperation Centre
The Euro-Australian Co-operation Centre is situated in the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur (Sydney, Australia), University of Melbourne, (Melbourne, Australia) and in the European Trends Association (Milan, Europe) and is staffed with fully qualified personnel possessing an in-depth knowledge of International co-operation projects, partner search, knowledge and technology transfer and intellectual property rights.
The Australian arm of the Euro-Australian Cooperation Centre has been established with offices in both Sydney and Melbourne to ensure excellent access for all Australian industry. The Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources has provided a grant of A$420,000under the Technology Diffusion Program funding which will provide seed capital for the establishment of the Euro-Australian Cooperation Centre (EACC). The official Australian launch of the EACC occurred on March 23 1999 in Sydney and March 25 1999 in Melbourne.
The Australian offices of the EACC will work closely with their supporting institutions, including:- the Australian Government, the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur; University of Melbourne: Australian Industry Group, State Government Departments of Industry Development in both NSW and Victoria; Economic Development Boards; Chambers of Commerce; local councils and individual companies. The Australian EACC is managed by a single Management Committee chaired by Assoc Prof Ross Chapman (Director of the InCITe Research Centre at UWSM). Dr Mile Terziovski (Faculty of Economics, Melbourne University) is the Deputy Chair. The Chairs of the Industry Advisory Boards (IABs), the Centre Managers and one additional University representative complete the composition of the Management Committee.
Each office of the EACC has a full-time manager, John Colless for NSW Office and Trevor Pratt for the Melbourne office with several support staff. Each office has an Industry Advisory Board (IAB), comprised of relevant industry and State Government representative from each state and chaired by senior industry representatives. These IABs provide general industry direction and state-specific advice regarding the particular needs of companies (and SMEs in particular) in developing and facilitating cooperative ventures between Australia and Europe.
The offices of the EACC are housed on the Campbelltown campus of the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur and the campus of the University of Melbourne. Each works closely with the Business and Community Sections of the relevant University to maximise profile and networking opportunities.
