Sustainable Energy Industry Association(Australia) Ltd
A great deal of important work takes place within Australian-based organisations and companies. This is largely because the country's climatic conditions favour many forms of sustainable energy development, and partly because Asia, one of the world's primary markets for such technology, is so close at hand. Let us not forget also that Australia has a reputation around the world as a leader in many forms of technological and medical research.
Australia maintains an international advantage in many sustainable energy areas including both renewable energy and energy efficiency. Our sustainable energy industry is a test bed and proving ground for products and processes which are destined to become essential features of the planet's long-term energy usage strategy.
It is vital that this exciting and innovative industry is fully and properly supported to ensure that a vast range of issues such as training, financing, quality assurance, legal standards, exporting and academic contact are all handled to provide the maximum benefits for all concerned.
The Founding Organisations
Historically the industry has been represented by many associations and organisations.
Commencing in 1997, the International Centre for Application of Solar Energy (CASE); Solar Energy Industries of Australia Ltd (incorporating Solar Energy Industries Association of Australia Ltd); the Sustainable Energy Industries Council of Australia (SEICA); the Renewable Energy Industries Association of Australia (REIA); the Australian & New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES) and the Australian CRC for Renewable Energy (ACRE) have worked together to establish a single Australian body to represent the interests of those involved in all aspects of sustainable energy.
A task force was established expressly for the purpose of establishing a single industry association now known as the Sustainable Energy Industry Association (Australia) Ltd.
The task force members were convinced that, in
order to reach their goals, they had to create a new body to take overall
responsibility for supporting the nation's sustainable energy industry.
