Biolytix Water Pty Ltd Biolytix Water manufactures Australia’s most awarded wastewater system — the Biolytix wastewater treatment system. Biolytix recycles sewage and wastewater into clean irrigation water. Biolytix was recently the overall winner of the Asian Innovation Award, beating 260 entries from 16 countries, including some of the world’s largest multi-national companies. The prize is sponsored by the Wall Street Journal (Asia) and awarded to the company that demonstrates the most potential to improve quality of life.
Biolytix copies nature’s biolytic process: the efficient breakdown of waste by a complex range of organisms. The humus inside the Biolytix system is like a sponge that acts like a huge lung with an estimated 450 square kilometres of oxygenated pores. These pores naturally draw high levels of oxygen directly from the air, fueling the ecosystem inside the tank and ensuring it treats the waste rapidly.
Biolytix wastewater treatment systems can be used in a large cross-section of applications ranging from household onsite wastewater treatment systems for 2,200L/day to commercial systems for more than 200kL/day. The systems also can be networked together for housing developments and small towns. Each household can irrigate their own garden, with excess water piped off to irrigate parks, ovals and golf courses. Each of the 1,000 houses at the Point Boston development in South Australia will have a Biolytix system. The systems can be retrofitted into existing septic tanks and linked for whole towns, if necessary. Many organisations have supported the development of the Biolytix technology, including GHD engineers, Queensland University, Murdoch University and the Cooperative Research Centre for Waste Management & Pollution Control. A range of partnering opportunities are available.
