Environment directory history and people

The environment directory is the original and longest-running Australian online environment directory. It was established in 1998 by Ian Bergman, owner of EIDN Pty Ltd. EIDN started life as the Environment Industry Development Network and was a spinoff of the former Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Waste Management and Pollution Control (now the Environmental Biotechnology CRC).

Ian Bergman is a technology consultant with 30 years of experience assisting Australian companies to develop and commercialise technologies in various public and private sector roles. This has included eight years assisting 200 companies to exhibit and market their products in Europe, USA, Japan and China.

The environment directory is managed by Margaret Metz, Writer & Editor, Magic Words. Margaret has 20 years of experience as a communications professional specialising in the environment industry. Her main client since 2001 has been Quitz Pty Ltd, producer of Australian events such as the Enviro, Ozwater and EcoForum series of conferences and exhibitions and global events such as the International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congresses and Exhibitions.
